This pyjama party is a throwback to the 90’s, and an ode to male happiness and cheekiness. Growing up, signs of being giggly and overtly joyous were reflected back to me as something to be ashamed of, something that went against my identity as a boy and a man- to-be. I wanted to use pride month as a means to show all the joy and light there is in being queer, and show men of all orientations to show their emotions of joy in a childish way.
The series tells the story of a group of friends plunging back into their youthful days and living out as adults what they wish they could have experienced fully as children. Being silly, having a go at each other and getting annoyed or bored as well; all of the things young boys should explore without restraint or pressure to act or be a certain way. The makeup is deliberately simple and uneven, like how children would do it on themselves and each other for fun. Then plastering themselves with stickers as a means to integrate the cuteness they evoke into themselves.
