KREEP. MEETS FIOLETOWY STUDIO

The importance of slow fashion has become increasingly paramount, particularly within the luxury segment. Slow fashion advocates for sustainability, ethical production practices, and mindful consumption, fundamentally addressing both the environmental and social repercussions of the prevalent fast fashion model. This approach resonates deeply with the growing consumer demand for responsible luxury, as individuals today seek to make informed choices that reflect their values and connect them to a more sustainable future.

The shift toward slow fashion is gaining momentum, as discerning consumers increasingly recognize the emptiness of transient trends and the superficial nature of fast fashion. By prioritizing longevity and quality, the slow fashion movement emphasizes the creation of timeless pieces that transcend seasonal cycles, standing in stark contrast to the rapid turnover associated with fast fashion. This ethos enhances the core values that luxury brands naturally embody: an unwavering commitment to quality, artisanship, and the celebration of individual expression.

In the forefront of this transformative movement stands Samatha Chandrashekar, a visionary designer making significant strides through her innovative work at Fioletowy Studio. Co-founding the brand with a profound vision rooted in empowerment and creativity, Samatha has dedicated herself to fostering a dialogue that honors the multifaceted nature of womanhood. Through her unique background, which beautifully intertwines rich Indian cultural heritage with diverse global influences, her designs resonate with women across the world, weaving together narratives that celebrate their varied experiences and identities.

Fioletowy’s Spring/Summer 2025 collection, aptly titled “Lamp on a Stand” / “A Town Built on a Hill,” manifests Samatha’s artistic vision and draws inspiration from the evocative words of Matthew 5:14. This collection introduces 15 exquisite outfits that masterfully marry the opulence of European aesthetics with the rich, vibrant textures of Indian textiles such as silk and velvet. Each garment is not merely an article of clothing, but an artistic statement, showcasing sculpted silhouettes and intricate detailing that highlight the transformative power of light, illuminating themes of hope, resilience, and individuality within each wearer.

Samatha’s ability to harmonize elements of European refinement, Japanese minimalism, and the artistry of Indian craftsmanship is truly remarkable. Her designs do more than adorn the body; they tell compelling stories, serving as vessels of expression that reflect the identities and aspirations of those who wear them. By embracing the essence of cultural traditions while maintaining a modern allure, her garments invite wearers to connect with their own narratives, creating a profound sense of belonging and self-identity.

Fioletowy Studio has gained recognition on prestigious platforms such as Bangalore Times Fashion Week, asserting itself as a beacon of creativity and diversity in the fashion industry. The brand’s collections are not mere presentations of style but rather expressions of identity, celebrating the richness of cultural heritage while embodying the sophisticated allure of contemporary design. Each piece crafted by Samatha becomes a medium of empowerment, allowing women to express themselves authentically in a world that often seeks to pigeonhole them.

In the vibrant world of Fioletowy Studio, every garment conveys a message of elenagance and resilience. Each design serves as a poignant reminder of the transformative impact that thoughtfully crafted fashion can have on our lives. Samatha Chandrashekar’s journey and the innovative ethos of Fioletowy Studio stand as a harbinger of change, encouraging us to embrace artful expression while championing sustainability and ethical practices. Through this thoughtful approach, she is not only redefining luxury fashion but also empowering a new generation to approach style with intention, consciousness, and a profound appreciation for the artistry of craftsmanship. Read below our exclusive interview with Samatha Chandrashekar:

Fioletowy Studio embodies a rich convergence of cultural influences. How do you navigate the complexities of cultural representation in your designs, and what practices do you implement to ensure that your designs celebrate rather than appropriate these cultures?

Fioletowy Studio approaches cultural representation with deep respect, ensuring that inspiration is a celebration rather than appropriation. I collaborate with artisans to preserve authenticity, conducting thorough research to understand the history and significance behind cultural elements. Giving credit is essential, and I make sure to share the stories behind each inspiration. Sustainability and ethical sourcing play a key role, supporting traditional craftsmanship in a way that uplifts communities. Above all, I approach every culture with a heart of humility, seeing myself as a guest rather than a consumer. For me, fashion is a bridge—honoring God’s creativity through the beauty of diverse traditions

In today’s fashion landscape, sustainability is an essential consideration. Can you outline the specific steps Fioletowy Studio is taking to minimize its ecological footprint and promote sustainable fashion practices? How do these initiatives align with your brand’s mission?

For Fioletowy , craftsmanship is more than technical skill—it’s an expression of artistry, culture, and intention. I define craftsmanship as the meticulous process of bringing a design to life with precision, care, and deep respect for materials and technique. It’s about honoring time-honored methods while pushing creative boundaries, ensuring that each piece carries a sense of soul and meaning.

Craftsmanship is foundational to your designs. Could you elaborate on how you define craftsmanship in the context of Fioletowy Studio, and in what ways does prioritizing quality and artisanal techniques contribute to a more sustainable and responsible fashion model?

Prioritizing quality and artisanal techniques naturally leads to more sustainable and responsible practices. By working with skilled artisans and embracing traditional craftsmanship, I create pieces that are built to last, countering the wastefulness of fast fashion. Handmade techniques often rely on lower-impact, non-industrial processes, reducing environmental strain while preserving cultural heritage. Additionally, investing in high-quality materials and thoughtful construction means fewer discarded garments, encouraging a shift toward mindful consumption.

In essence, craftsmanship at Fioletowy is not just about aesthetics but about sustainability, storytelling, and honoring the hands behind the work. It’s a commitment to creating fashion that is as enduring in value as it is in beauty

With the global conversation around cultural appreciation versus appropriation becoming more prominent, what is your perspective? How do you intend to foster dialogue around these themes through the collections you create?

I believe cultural appreciation should be rooted in respect, understanding, and collaboration, rather than mere aesthetic borrowing. The global conversation around appreciation versus appropriation is essential because fashion has historically blurred those lines, often extracting without acknowledging or giving back. For me, inspiration should always come with intentionality—understanding the history, engaging with the communities behind the artistry, and ensuring that representation is meaningful rather than exploitative.Through my collections, I aim to foster dialogue by telling the deeper stories behind cultural influences. Whether through artisan collaborations, campaign narratives, or the way I present my designs, I make it a point to highlight the origins and craftsmanship involved. I want people to not just see beauty but to understand its roots. Fashion can be a powerful bridge between cultures when approached with humility and authenticity, and that’s the spirit I carry into every collection I create

Fast fashion presents a significant challenge to sustainability in fashion. What measures do you implement in your design and production processes to create timeless, enduring pieces that encourage consumers to invest in quality rather than quantity?

At Fioletowy, I design with longevity in mind, creating timeless, high-quality pieces that counter fast fashion’s disposability. I use sustainable materials, embrace small-batch production, and incorporate artisanal craftsmanship to ensure each garment holds artistic and cultural value. By focusing on classic design and mindful storytelling, I encourage consumers to invest in fashion as an enduring art form rather than a fleeting trend.

Artisanship is critical to the uniqueness of your designs. How do you select your collaborators, and what criteria do you use to ensure that these partnerships reflect your values regarding fair labor practices and dignified work for craftsmen?

Artisanship is at the heart of Fioletowy Studio, and I am intentional about selecting collaborators who align with my values of integrity, craftsmanship, and ethical labor practices. I choose artisans based on their mastery of traditional techniques, cultural heritage, and commitment to sustainability. More importantly, I ensure that these partnerships uphold fair labor practices by working directly with artisans or ethical cooperatives that provide safe working conditions, fair wages, and dignified opportunities for craftsmen.Beyond skill, I seek collaborators who share a deep respect for artistry and storytelling, ensuring that each piece is created with authenticity and care. By fostering these meaningful partnerships, I not only preserve cultural craftsmanship but also contribute to a more ethical and sustainable fashion industry—one that values people as much as the artistry they bring to life.

What message do you hope to communicate about sustainability and cultural integration through Fioletowy Studio, and how do you engage your audience in this vital conversation?

Through Fioletowy, I aim to communicate that fashion can be both a celebration of culture and a force for sustainability when approached with intentionality. I want to show that true luxury lies in craftsmanship, ethical creation, and storytelling rather than mass production or fleeting trends. Sustainability and cultural integration are not separate ideals but interconnected—when we honor cultural artistry through fair collaborations and mindful design, we naturally move toward a more responsible fashion industry. To engage my audience in this conversation, I use storytelling as a bridge—whether through collection narratives, behind-the-scenes insights, or highlighting the artisans and techniques that shape each piece. By educating consumers on the significance of slow fashion and the beauty of cultural craftsmanship, I hope to inspire a shift toward more mindful appreciation, where fashion is seen as a lasting art form rather than a disposable commodity.
