A CONVERSATION WITH AHMED AZZAM, FOUNDER OF ZAAM OFFICIAL
How did your passion for design start and how your creative process work?
I’ve always knew that i’ll end up having my own business in fashion, ZAAM was launched in 2012 however i started since i was 13 doing small fashion related projects and 5 years later ZAAM was launched.
Creative process always start with an idea, but i always go back in time to old and vintage architecture mainly, since most of designs are structured and inspired by the baroque era.

Can you tell us a little bit about your references and inspirations for your garments?
We try to use different materials, we have the leather, coated canvas and brass gold and platinum plated.. However all with the same brand identity we even produce our own fabrics to match our detailed brass work.
Can you describe your client’s personality in few words?
We address those with sophisticated taste and courage to new and unusual designs. We have been doing the hard shaped, structured bags since 2012 and in the beginning some people were seeing it as strange. Also those who are into art
What do you think it’s your best-selling piece?
Our best selling bag is our Polyroque bag (the pyramid shaped bag) the bag was first introduced in 2013 and since then the bag was worn by the region’s top celebrities, influencers and socialites and even in Vienna fashion week everyone was amazed with the mix between the baroque art and the Egyptian heritage.

What do you think about the opportunity of selling your products on online platforms, you think it might be a good showcase for your work and your future?
We spent almost a year depending on our ecommerce website during covid time, so nowadays online shopping is everything and its the easiest way to reach customer and update them with all the new designs and collections.
Can you tell us what is the next project?
Im working on our 10th anniversary collection pieces all inspired by our signature design whichs is the Polyroque bag (the pyramid shaped bag) . a mix of egyptian heritage and the baroque art the collection will be launched next year 2022 and we have been working on it for more than a year now.
