INTERVIEW WITH JOSEPH AUREN

The designs of the young and ambitious designer Joseph Auren grab your attention with their beauty, originality, and purity of line. They undoubtedly come to tell us that there is a newborn talent who will thrill us with his original models in the future.

What is typical of the creative personality of this artist is the series of black and white, followed by white and black, while his main interest is focused on elegance in the development of every detail. Joseph Auren is a regular participant in fashion weeks across the world, in Paris, Milan, and now in  Los Angeles. These high-rank fashion events provoke the creative pursuit of the designer and energize him with new inspiration in the promotion of his own brand and image in the fashion industry.

When asked which was the source of the concepts he used to create his fashion product, the designers gave the following reply, “nature and its beauty, even Space”. He loves the geometric lines in the models and their multifunctional application and comfort. The artist incorporates every new concept and inspiration on the drafting table, where new beauty and originality are born. The designer is an optimist and irrespective of his hard past, his future looks bright and attractive and corresponds to his black and white colors.

Everything Joseph Auren creates is a reflection of his spirituality and state of mind. He is a firm optimist and consistent perfectionist and his muse is a combination of love, passion, and ambition. The young designer directs his own brand alone and believes that the public and his clients will feel the love and energy his products are charged with.

In early October, Joseph Auren launched his spaceship and headed to Los Angeles for Fashion Week 2022, where he debuted his second collection, Future to the Moon. Dark lighting and an atmospheric track set the stage for a show that is sure to take the fashion industry by storm. The man behind the magic is Joseph Auren, a self-made designer. He was born in Bulgaria but moved to Germany to pursue his passion for fashion. Now, he’s determined to share his otherworldly designs with a worldwide audience, and Future to the Moon is the catalyst to make it happen.

This out-of-this-world collection features modern, androgynous designs, unpredictable silhouettes, and a strong avant-garde charm that lends a unique flair to the wearer. These garments strike the exquisite balance of refined and free-spirited, their clean-cut structures balanced by lighter elements, including asymmetrical zippers and blazers.

The design is in the details and Joseph Auren leaves his signature touches at every tasteful opportunity: geometric cutouts, optical effects, bondage elements, and more. One glance at his pieces reveals a dark, moody landscape that instantly sets the desired tone. Metallic fabrics and iridescent visuals paint a futuristic image unlike anything else. The result is an ultra-chic style that makes a statement in any setting.

Like all great fashion designers, there’s a science behind the seams. The key to Auren’s genius? Space. Every stitch is intended to reinforce the outer space theme. The grey, shimmering panels reflect the galaxy’s shining stars, while the buckled belts represent the hardware of a spaceship. This concept is impressively consistent, creating a cohesive collection that gives a taste of something entirely new.

Color is also an important part of Auren’s collection. Auren opts for a black-and-white color scheme for a minimalistic appearance that remains timeless despite various modern, distinct touches. Darkness is directly contrasted by lightness, not unlike the stars in pitch-black space, further reinforcing his inspiration. Not for the faint of heart, Auren’s designs allow wearers to adopt a bold personality that regards fashion as a means for self-expression. Those who wear Auren prepare to launch their style into uncharted territories, where esteem and admiration are promised, ensuring they are the center of everyone’s orbit.

However, appearances aren’t the only mastered element of this collection. Designed and made in Berlin, Auren’s pieces boast superior craftsmanship that puts this collection above others in his league. The unparalleled quality yields an even stronger impact that cannot be easily replicated. Flattering silhouettes and custom-tailored solutions ensure the pieces look exceptional on everybody, regardless of size or gender. This inclusive approach provides every fashion connoisseur an opportunity to experience luxury fashion and rock the future with the collection Future to the Moon, proving that, for this fashion designer, space is the limit.

When did you first realise you wanted to launch your own label?

I thought it was the moment to create Joseph Auren when my creativity poked out myself. It was necessary to manifest it in designs and spread my vision of fashion.

If you could go back and tell yourself one thing before beginning your career, what would it be?

I would tell myself that everything is possible when we believe in it with passion and love. I invested a lot in my brand and I have given everything in it. I have no regrets. The way that I am used to saying “dare to be” reflects about my vision and how I see myself nowadays comparing too my begins.

How do you want your clients to feel when wearing your pieces and on what occasions can be worn?

Wearing Joseph Auren’s is not only about fashion, it deals with a real lifestyle. My typical clients can be an average smart & sportive person and a celebrity as the same time. Just like sensitive people.

I always wanted to highlighting the figure of manliness through my designs. I wanted to make something smart, sophisticated and extra but to being too much or vulgar. This by keeping my DNA : minimalist and futuristic. My pieces are special and they are worn for special days or occasion and daily life too dealing with smartness & fitness.

Can you define us in a few words the meaning of a long-lasting garment?

Everything is based on the quality of the pieces. This is very important to me and the values shared by Joseph Auren. I use premium materials and everything is sewn and made in my atelier.

There is one important person in your life, who pushes and motivates you to believe in yourself?

I have friends that believe in me and to which I ask for some feedbacks to know what they think about new potential designs. But they are not plentiful. I admit that I only trust myself and I was always used to keep it alone, pushing me & motivating me alone only. This is the philosophy of life.

Tell us how your feelings influence the creativity process?

My mood can impact my creativity. I do my best to keep stimulated by gym, visiting outside, travelling. Even when I don’t sew or create, I am still working. My brain is always focused and synchronised with Joseph Auren. I live for Joseph Auren. I am Joseph Auren.

We know that almost all your pieces are conceptually and technically advanced in reflection of the Moon. Why this choice and when was your passion for such a powerful Planet was born?

The choice of space and ships came by my way to see the future. Future goes over out currently area that drives to something higher than humanity. If we look for something taller than humans, we see in a first-hand high building, then the sky, space & finally the moon.

What are the next steps for your label, in order to grow up more?

Firstly, I want to continue of spreading my brand in the USA and still make it wearable on celebrities and get collaborations press & medias. Then, I plan to expend my brand in Asia. Finally, but not least I’m focusing to share a new collection that will make people amazed hopefully. I want to spread my vision of future in all over the world and make it real : “reaching the future before it happens”.
