A TALK WITH LAURA RUDOVIC

Laura Rudovic is the owner of Laura’s Boutique & Bridal and fashion designer behind Dream Couture located in New York. Laura is known for her trendy gowns made with very luxurious fabrics and immaculate hand beaded work. Originally from Montenegro Laura Grew up as a fashionista and when she was five years old, she cut her mothers wedding gown to fit her for her 6th birthday while she made her entire family all watch her dance.

Laura continuously sketched wedding gowns and dressed up all her cousins as brides and her fashion career began in 2014 when she opened up her first boutique selling womenswear handcrafted gowns. In 2015 she sold out her first fashion show in White Plains NY. The following years she went and debuted her evening collections for Brooklyn Fashion week, Bronx Fashion Week and Atlantic City Fashion week. Laura then got the attention of celebrities where she had the chance to style them for red carpet events, music videos, live performances and pageants. In 2021 she had expanded her boutique into a two floors building featuring evening gowns on the first floor and bridal gowns on the second floor. The same year in 2021 Laura debuted her new collection called Dream Couture which consists of three bridal collections (Angel, Skylux and Couture)  and an evening collection. Since her collection was debuted it has been featured in Manhattan Magazine, Moevir, Bravo and worn by many celebrities. Laura’s Career as a business owner and fashion designer is just the beginning and has already started to be a known household brand in New York City.

How did your passion for design start and what motivated you to open a bridal boutique in New York City?

My passion started ever since I can remember as a little girl always wanting to design and that passion never went away and kept motivating me to open up my boutique when I finally got the chance.

Can you tell us a little bit about your references and inspirations for your dresses?

My inspirations and references come from everything in my head, I am always thinking up new ideas and sketching everything that comes to mind.

Can you describe your client’s personality in a few words?

Hard working women that want to look good and feel good.

What do you think it’s the most important thing for a bridal boutique in order to sell constantly?

The most important things are the best designs and amazing customer service being there for every single customer on a personal level.

What do you think about the opportunity of selling your products on online platforms, you think it might be a good showcase for your work and your future?

I prefer to have my designs in stores worldwide than on online platforms, so the customer can have a more personal experience.

What does the bridal industry need more to grow up and what can be done better for this?

The bridal industry needs more designers in bridal stores as they all carry the same designers.

What is the long term goal for you as a designer and what is the main mission? 

My long term goal is to just design as it is my passion so my mission is to be able to have other stores sell while I just focus on the design part.

What are the most interesting social platforms that can help Laura’s Boutiques + Bridal? 

The most interesting social platform I would have to say is instagram and helps to show our work. 

Would you like to open new stores abroad, in other countries? Where? 

I would be interested in opening up stores abroad however I would be more interested in have my gowns sold in other stores world wide if I had to choose it anywhere in Europe.

Can you tell us what is the next project?

My next project will be announced next year and you will have to wait and see.
